Introducing Hammer Family Collections: A New Chapter in Our Journey

As we listened to the marketplace, we realized that many customers were precluded from purchasing directly from MABEF. Through our evolving relationship with Laura Mariotto, we saw an opportunity to serve those unmet needs — and a new vision began to take shape.

Launching Hammer Family Collections

We’re proud to announce the formation of Hammer Family Collections (HFC), a new company that will begin shipping MABEF easels in November 2025.

By partnering with a third-party logistics provider (3PL), HFC will be able to reach countless retailers with the world’s most preeminent wooden easels. Our goal is simple: make it easier for artists and retailers everywhere to access the craftsmanship and quality that define MABEF.

A Curated Assortment for Every Artist

We’ve carefully selected a comprehensive assortment of MABEF’s best-selling models — spanning every major product category. In addition, HFC has created compelling dealer programs, including an innovative Premier Dealer Program designed to offer exclusive benefits and deeper collaboration with our retail partners.

A Legacy of Distribution and Craftsmanship

This isn’t our first experience in product distribution. Back in 1998, we introduced an Italian line of fine leather goods — primarily ring binders and organizers. The collection embodied Italian craftsmanship and design, and by 1999, it was a success.

In 2000, we experienced an exceptional year with the support of specialty retailers, including Kate’s Paperie. Unfortunately, the events of 9/11, followed by the anthrax scare, deeply affected the retail landscape. By the time the market recovered, loose-leaf organizers — including beloved brands like DayRunner and Filofax — had become obsolete.

Building on Tradition

The development of HFC follows a well-established model in our industry. Many of our friends and colleagues across Europe and Canada operate as “stocking agents,” helping brands bridge markets and reach new audiences.

In the summer of 2021, every member of the Hammer family played a role in shaping HFC’s ideals and identity. The collaboration between Abe Hammer and Maddy Hammer in developing the company’s logo and branding speaks volumes about our shared commitment to legacy and innovation.
